Scribes

Little is known on the formation, role, and individual fates of scribes and other manuscript makers in Ethiopian and Eritrean history. Closely studying the paratextual information provided by the manuscripts and the palaeographic peculiarities, the project shall try to contribute to a prosopography of bookmakers, book owners, book traders, and other persons involved in the creation and use of manuscripts.
